30 years of real estate investment and performance
James Markham founded Markham in 1995, sharing an office with his father, who had recently retired from a career leading a large engineering firm, and was transitioning to Board directorships. Youthful vigour mentored by seasoned company executive experience laid the foundations for 30 years of strong performance, underpinned from the beginning by robust governance practice.
In its first five years, the business invested in and managed medium density residential developments and acted as development manager for large scale industrial and mixed-use developments.
In early 2000, James evolved the business direction to co-invest with private investors in income producing commercial real estate. This led to the establishment of the first of a number of “M Series” managed funds, which seek to target enhanced risk adjusted returns by applying the core real estate skills of the senior leadership team. An intimate knowledge of local markets, co investment and a hands-on management approach remain central to our culture and ongoing success.
Markham has grown into a ten-strong management team of industry professionals with diverse and complementary skills in real estate acquisition, investment management, asset management, development, engineering and construction, architecture, leasing, sales, operations and finance.
We have a disciplined approach to investing in real estate, which has allowed the group to deliver an unblemished track record of strong investment performance for our co-investors. This success has been built around trust, transparency, strong alignment, tenant satisfaction and the creation of value for investors.
Markham is committed to delivering valuable and sustainable environments for investors and tenants. Similarly, the group adopts best practice corporate governance that is aligned, accountable, and transparent.
